La Grange Buyer: Meet Christina & Ben
Why did you choose this neighborhood?
It was a bit random as we were originally looking to go the northern suburbs, but took a few weekends to look at various suburbs in close proximity to the city (where both of us work) and came upon La Grange and really liked the look and feel of the town.
What are you most excited about in your new home?
We are excited about the extra indoor and outdoor space. We were in the city in a 3 bedroom rowhome and it became clear particularly in quarantine, that with 3 small boys and two of us working at home, we needed more space.
What is your new favorite neighborhood spot?
We’ve only been in the area for about 2 months so we’ve got plenty more to explore. But, we do enjoy grabbing ice cream at Tate’s, grabbing brunch at Prasino, and enjoying the amazing parks and playgrounds- all within walking distance.
How did you decide on this place?
We just fell in love with the house. It was the first house that Meg took us through and we just got “a feeling” when we walked through it that this was the home for us. Also, we got a good sense that there were plenty of kids and families in the neighborhood which is something we were looking for too.
Do you plan to do any other updates on your place?
We will eventually update our master bathroom and finish up some minor “cosmetic” things like re-tiling the fireplace, but nothing major. We painted and refinished the wood floors prior to moving in and it gave our place, a “new home” feel.
What was a must-have in your home?
We had a few must-haves: A big kitchen for entertaining, a large mud room, outdoor space for play and entertaining, a finished basement, enough bedrooms for each of our kids, and two office areas since both of us are working from home at this time.
What was the best part about working with Meg?
She really got to know us and understood what we were looking for. We felt like she listened well and worked really hard to find us the perfect home based on our needs and desires.
Favorite memory in your new home?
Favorite memory so far- just seeing the boys run around freely in the backyard. We also have a great outdoor deck and fire pit and it’s been a nice place to relax in the evening.
Favorite room in the house?
Favorite room- definitely the kitchen. It’s big and open and we seem to always hang out there. We are enjoying cooking and baking with the boys. Personally, I love the amount of storage space and I LOVE having a huge walk-in pantry! My second favorite is our workout room- a great place for “me time” in the morning before the boys are up!
