Logan Square Buyer: Meet Alex & Matt

Why did you choose this neighborhood?

When we were looking for our condo, we knew we wanted to be on the north west side of the city. We were looking at Wicker, West Town and Logan. We really wanted a neighborhood feel, but to be close to our favorite restaurants and music venues. We love that there are so many parks nearby and that its a very walkable part of the city. It's close enough to everything, but we're tucked away enough to be able to feel like we have our own little hideout.

What is your new favorite neighborhood spot?

When the city began to lock down, Matt and I stopped going to restaurants almost entirely at first. The only exception was walking to Boiler Room on Friday nights to get a pizza for movie night. It quickly became a ritual and a bright spot in our weeks. We've since started incorporating more local takeout into our routines, but Boiler Room remains a favorite.

How would you describe your style?

Our style is very much a reflection of who we are. Rather than sticking to one design aesthetic, we really choose furniture and art based on what we're naturally drawn towards - lots of vintage furniture and art collected over time. Its certainly eclectic, but with an element of restraint (at least that's what we're going for!)

How did you decide on this place?

We were immediately excited about our place when Meg sent us the listing! We wanted something very unique, but also had a few musts on our list. We were always drawn to lofts, but it was very important to us that all of the rooms were fully enclosed. Once we came to the open house, we knew we had found our place. It was the perfect location, perfect size, we loved the exposed brick and fireplace.... we were sold!

What was a must-have in your home?

Outdoor space and an in-unit washer and dryer. After living without both of those for 4 years in the city, we knew those were must haves in our future home!

What was the best part about working with Meg?

Meg really listened to what we wanted in our first home together. She helped us stay focused on the things that we had said were important to us from day one and made the most of the time we were investing in the hunt. Meg helped us navigate the process painlessly as first time home buyers. She was able to make great recommendations on everything from how to find a lending company to finding a handyman to help with pre-move-in fixes.
