Gold Coast Buyer + Seller: Theresa O’Keefe

Home, home decor, interior design, design, Chicago, family, real estate

Why did you choose this neighborhood?

I love the Gold Coast with its tree line streets and historic brown stones. I can walk to work in the loop from here and I feel safe in my building that has a doorman.

What are you most excited about in your new home?

I love my open concept kitchen and built-in cabinets that extends my kitchen storage and allows for a beautiful addition to my kitchen with a beverage center.

What is your new favorite neighborhood spot?

I love Mario’s which is right across the street. My father lives in the building as well, and he cannot walk very far, so he loves to go to dinner there and his favorite dish is the spaghetti and meatballs.

How would you describe your style?

I think transitional would best describe my style, but with this apartment I used some more modern elements with my baseboard trim and furniture selections.

How did you decide on this place?

I chose this building and unit primarily for its location, the balcony, split 2 bedroom floor plan, it’s location north of Division, and it was in the same building my dad had just moved to.

Do you plan to do any other updates on your place?

Not right now. I did a complete renovation before I moved in.

What was a must-have in your home?

Outdoor space and split 2 bedroom floor plan.

What was the best part about working with Meg?

Meg was great to work with. She has a great eye for details and finding a good deal. She works relentlessly to ensure she is getting what her clients want and the best deal possible.

Favorite memory in your new home?

I recently had a birthday party for my oldest daughter Sarah for her 27th bday. It’s been difficult to have parties during Covid, but we had family and a few friends over and had a great time.

Meg is so smart, hardworking and just knows Chicago inside and out. She knew me and my taste so well that she told me she could envision me in the townhome I ended up buying, before I could even find it on a map (I had never heard of Wilmot Ave. until Meg made me walk by it!).
